Yesil Fasulye (green beans)

Yes we really do eat meals made from green beans here.

Equal amounts of green beans and fresh tomatoes.
1 large onion
4 cloves of garlic
500 ml water
Salt and pepper to taste
Mixed red and green peppers. I use 2 of each.
1 teaspoon of sugar.

Top and tail the beans, wash and cut into 1 inch pieces.

Wash and finely chop the tomatoes.

Fry the onion and peppers in olive oil. When the onions start to look clear add the green beans. Keep stirring coating well in oil. Add a good sprinkle of salt and pepper and the garlic. When the garlic starts to smell add the chopped tomatoes and the water. Stir well. Cover and cook for approx 30 minutes until the beans are tender.

Serve with rice and fresh crusty bread.
